Legends of the Dreaming Sea
The Crocodile Priests oversea the worship of the Madean Empire’s patron deities, the most important of which are the God of the Great Khenu River, The Lord of Crocodiles and a small pantheon of sun gods.
The priests get their name from the ceremonial crocodile skins they wear while performing ritual duties during the day. They also have many mundane duties which they perform at the behest of the Pharaoh (who is nominally the head of the priesthood), they monitor irrigation and trade on the river, pass on edicts from the Pharaoh and officiate births and weddings.
The Holy City of Atwak is the most important place in their religion and they carry out secret rites there during calibration and other important celestial events.
